What are Implants?
Replacing a lost tooth due to a disease or injury can drastically improve a patient’s quality of life and health. Dental imperfections may even cause defective speech and chewing difficulties. The dental implant system consists of 3 important components, the dental implant body, the abutment, and the crown. The implant body is surgically placed in the gums and the abutment with the artificial teeth is screwed to the implant body.
You are an ideal candidate for dental implants if you:
Have one or more teeth missing
Want to restore your ability to chew comfortably and pain-free
Preserve the health and the cosmetic appearance of the teeth and bone surrounding the problem area
Want to look more approachable and presentable
Wish to improve your confidence
Are healthy and at a stable weight
Have done your research on the procedure and the possible risks
You only need 3 to 4 days of rest after dental implant surgery. You might experience some numbness, sensitivity, and swelling, which is normal and will subside after a couple of days. Healing is generally painless with little discomfort. If you follow a good dental hygiene regime, the implants will last you a lifetime.
As the Voila medical team, we will always be by your side to ensure that you always feel your best during recovery.
When it comes to enhancing the effects of the procedure, aftercare is just as important as the surgery itself.
During the few days after oral surgery, you should consume soft foods and stay away from hot liquids, spicy foods. You can return to your normal diet after 3-4 days, but you should be careful to support the healing of the implant area.
Since smoking and alcohol intake can slow down recovery, it is recommended to quit smoking and not drink during the recovery process.
If necessary, your doctor may prescribe you painkillers.
Patience is the key. You’re on a better path!
