Rhinoplasty can be performed under general anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or local anesthesia. General anesthesia renders patients completely unconscious throughout the surgery, while intravenous sedation may keep them in a semi-conscious state. These are safe solutions as anesthesiologists monitor patients very closely. If general anesthesia is selected, it is typically administered via an endotracheal tube in a "twilight" state. In either case, patients will not be aware of the procedure.
